Aircraft suffered a thermal issue with one cell of one of the batteries whilst on the ground at Tokyo. New venting system appeared to handle the issue but airframe has been grounded whilst checks where carried out, aircraft returned to server after checked where completed.

Whilst performing flight JL-17 from Vancouver to Tokyo Narita with 166 people on board was enroute at FL410 approx. 150nm northeast of Tokyo Narita when the number 2 - right hand engine had failed. They drifted down to FL210 and landed safely on runway 34L approx. 50 minutes later.
