Whilst performing flight AI-171 from Ahmedabad to London Heathrow with 231 Passengers and 18 crew was at FL400 entering Hungarian air space at approx. 0842 GMT the crew failed to report into Bucharest Centre. The aircraft continued along it planned flight path when a Czechoslovakian fighter jet intercepted the aircraft over Czechia at 0922. However, the 787 re-established contact with ATC whilst still over Hungarian airspace and continued normally. Czechoslovakian ATC reported the crew reported normally at 0907. When the aircraft was handed over to German ATC, German, Belgium, and UK Air Force jet escorted the aircraft for the remainder of its journey. Aircraft remained on the ground for 3 hours 15 minutes for departing on its onward leg to Newark.
