Whilst performing flight AA-288 from Shanghai to Chicago O Hare, with 100 passengers and 14 crew at FL380 over the Pacific Ocean approx. 710nm south of Cold Bay (USA) when the crew shutdown the number 2 engine due to a possible mechanical issue. The aircraft drifted down to FL210 and turned north to divert to Cold Bay the aircraft landed without further incident about 2 hours later on runway 15. The FAA later confirmed that the aircraft suffered an engine |
