Crew had gone beyond V1 and where therefore committed to take off. The crew declared PAN PAN, climbed to a safe altitude and dumped fuel. After dumping 49.2 tones of fuel they returned to Montreal 06L and stopped on the runway. 25 Oct 2015MovementC-GHPVAir CanadaWhilst performing flight AC-84 from Toronto to Tel Aviv with 246 passengers and 11 crew, the aircraft was on approach to Tel Aviv after an otherwise uneventful flight when the aircraft was struck by lightening causing the crew to abandon the landing and go around at about 3500ft. The aircraft diverted to Paphos in Cyprus. The aircraft climbed to FL260 during this diversion and landed safely. about 50 minutes after the lightening strike. An examination of the airframe caused it to be grounded for repairs to the left wing tip and a reset of the aircrafts rear door alarms. The rear toilet controller also was replaced as after the lightening strike the toilets flushed randomly.GroundedUpdate
